FIRE DEPARTMENT HISTORY
The Rockwall Fire Department has been an integral part of the community since its establishment in 1903. Initially, local businessmen and citizens volunteered their time, often leaving their workplaces to respond to emergencies. Over the years, the department has evolved significantly. Today, the Rockwall Fire Department is a dynamic organization serving many aspects of the community. The Operation Division has over 60 full-time firefighters serving the citizens of Rockwall 24/7. These firefighters work a 48/96 shift, and an on-duty Battalion Chief supervises each shift. The department provides fire, medical, technical rescue, hazardous materials, and marine fire/rescue response on Lake Ray Hubbard.
The Fire Prevention, Education, & Investigation Division of the Rockwall Fire Department, commonly referred to as FPE&I, plays a crucial role in fire prevention, investigation, and enforcement of fire codes to ensure fire and life safety for people who live, work, and visit in Rockwall. FPE&I is committed to providing you with the most comprehensive information and assistance possible.
